Archival Coveralls

Via Archival pal and Unsung Sewing Patterns blogger, Andrea Cesari, here is an original pattern for sewing your own WW II era coverall.  Andrea notes that the fabric recommendations for this garment are Archival favorites: corduroy, denim or duck.   See Andrea's post for more details on the coverall pattern and historical photographs documenting its use.

Release - Small Field Bags in Canvas Duck

Our Small Field Bag is a scaled-down version of our original Field Bag for those who don't need to carry as much in the field or to the office. Intended as a daily workhorse, our field bag is a cross between a traditional English fishing bag and an urban messenger bag.  Durable construction and practical features allow the bag to excel at carrying gear both outdoors and to the office.

For Spring we’re releasing this bag in 18 oz cotton duck fabric in natural, navy, charcoal and carmine red.  Like the original Field Bag, the Small Field Bag is trimmed in Horween leather and features solid brass hardware, a YKK zipper and mil spec cotton webbing.

Available via the Archival Web Shop and select stockists.

New Release: Archival x Steele Basket Tote

For summer, we introduce our new waterproof bottom Archival x Steele Canvas Tote which is perfect for your larger capacity toting needs. It's our favorite bag for carrying essentials to and from the beach or neighborhood swimming pool.

Steele Canvas Totes are constructed from extra-stout #4 natural canvas duck, undyed to ensure maximum fabric strength. A double bottom in waterproof truck tarp ensures you can set it down in challenging conditions. The structure provided by the rectangular and boxy base of the Tote maximizes its load capacity. Really nice, stiff edges enable the Archival Steele Canvas Tote to stand upright and open for easy loading and unloading. Two reinforced 8" handles and a practical internal pocket round out the design.

17 x 17 x 10

Made in USA

This release of the tote features the original The Steele Basket stencil from the archives.

From the archives - Bottle Green Rucksack

While we cannot shop from the past we can still recycle materials from our fabric vendor's archives. For a limited time, we're featuring Archival Rucksacks made from deadstock bottle green canvas duck. The fabric, over twenty five years old, comes to us from an orphan warehouse stash that was lost to time. It is the same sturdy, high quality duck we source for our stock canvas rucksacks but the material surface of the fabric (like a nice barrel aged spirit) has been slightly mellowed, and transformed, by time.

We’re happy to note that due to the popular response to our Archival Rucksacks in bottle green, the fabric manufacturer will be making this shade of green again in their commercial grade fabric. Here's your chance to secure a bag made from the original source material.
