Weekend rabbit hunting with the William Brown Project

by Tom Bonamici

VIEW FROM THE HOUSE.

Last weekend, I skipped out on the pile of work waiting in the studio and headed upstate with a friend and fellow blogger, Matt of the excellent William Brown Project. It was a quick trip but we fit in plenty of activities and planned plenty more.

DEEP SNOW.

DEEP IN THE BRAMBLE.

NICE HAUL FOR A SLEETING AFTERNOON. WE BAGGED TWO EACH.

RABBIT KIDNEY TOASTS, EATEN JUST 2 HOURS POST-HUNT.

VAST DINNER FOR HUNGRY HUNTERS.

A FINE RESTORING BREAKFAST

INSPECTING OUTBUILDINGS & PLANNING A SAUNA.

HEADED FOR TILLY'S IN MONTICELLO, NY. THEIR BLT WAS RIGHT ON TIME.

Whenever I venture out to my hunt club, I am reminded of the verse, "For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands."

Looks like a good day a-field. Thanks for posting.

Lucky devil. A sauna in the barn? AS needs to make a line of hunting journals.

Nice work, THB -- I'll send this to your great-uncle Bob, ace Michigan rabbit hunter.

Great picture-story.
The first image (view from the house) looks like a little oil painting!
The meal looks yummy too.

I've learned people will accept most things as long as you phrase it in the manner they want to hear it. For example, I'm an avid hunter who calls San Francisco home. Odd mix, right? Actually, not when you know how to speak to them in their own tongue. When I explain that I like to "source my own organic, free-range protein" everyone is content. It's all in knowing your audience or, in this case, your neighbors. -JZ

seems that snowshoes could have helped that day. Will AC be selling Schnees pac boots next year? (you should)
